Writing a eulogy
THE EULOGY
Being asked to write a eulogy for a funeral can be a difficult task to contemplate.

We hope the following points can assist in making this task easier.
  • Location and date of birth
  • Family name/nickname
  • Names of family members, daughters married names, grandchildren and great grandchildren
  • Siblings
  • Early childhood memories
  • Scholastic achievements
  • Military Service
  • Employment achievements
  • Sporting interests and/or achievements
  • Details of historical significance
  • Hobbies
  • Humorous stories
  • Special readings, poetry or music
Remember to keep your Eulogy short.  Three minutes is a good guideline for time.  It is a good idea to have 2 copies and a back-up person should you find it too hard to continue.  It is also a good idea to increase the size of the type so it is very easy to read.

The Eulogy does not have to be read by a family member.  Your Minister or Celebrant will always include the Eulogy in their Service if you so wish.

Our arrangers are available 7 days a week to meet with you at your home or at our offices and you can contact us by phone 24 hours a day.
